On television, he memorably played police dog-handler PC Snow in the long-running 1970s Z Cars spin-off series Softly, Softly: Taskforce, as well as starring in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Crossroads, Common as Muck and The Beiderbecke Affair.
